D.O Rioja wines with a family taste
Count of
Hervías
Our great-great-grandfather of the present owners, Domingo Salustiano Manso de Zúñiga y Areyzaga VIII Count of Hervías and Viscount of Negueruela built one of the oldest wineries in La Rioja in ashlar stone in Torremontalbo.
Brothers
Amézola
Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, our father and uncle, brothers Iñigo and Javier Amézola, took up the family’s winemaking tradition by transforming the sixty hectares of inherited grain into vineyards and rebuilding the old 19th century winery.
María &
Cristina
The sisters and daughters of Iñigo and Cristina, who have become the youngest Spanish winemakers, join the winery.
We represent the fifth generation of the family.
We lead the winery that our parents and uncle built.
We do it in honor of their memory by promoting, with fresh and young airs, the tradition and family philosophy. “Wines with a family flavor”.

Period
Phyilloxera
With the arrival of phylloxera in the late 1890s the vineyards were devastated, and our great-grandparents decided to replant the hectares in cereal and leave the old winery for storage.
Cristina
Downes
Our mother faces the great challenge of leading the winery after the sudden and premature death of our uncle in 1995 and our father in 1999.
Not only did she do a great job, but in 2001 she produced the first vintage of a wine, a tribute to one of the founders, Iñigo Amézola Tinto.
It is a red wine made from Tempranillo grapes from the best San Quiles plot.
